ASA 141
Yueming Tan
In the article "Asia On My Mind," the author reflects the value of Asian identity in some Asian American designers. I think that as a designer with an Asian background, I will have more resources and inspiration because they can contact the culture of the mother country and the culture of the United States. On the other hand, Asian designers can sell their work in Asian countries. However, I think Asian American designers will face some critical challenges, such as self-identity recognition. Caucasians are still the mainstream majority in today's society in the United States. As an Asian American designer, they still need to face the challenge of who I am. Many white people wonder why Asian Americans always claim to face different levels of discrimination and self-awareness. I think it is because Caucasians never need to question their identity, so they can't feel empathy.
