ASA141
Week 11
Throughout this quarter, there were many things taught in class, but it seems that the only thing that I took away from it was the Be Green challenge. Before the challenge, I never thought about my consumerist habits and how much waste I accrue because of impulse purchases. In addition, I don't take in account on where the items that I buy are made from and who makes them. The challenge forced me to be more conscious about what I bought, which helped me make little changes in my life but also my participation in fast fashion and fast consumerism. I became more accepting of secondhand clothing and have cleaned out my closet to donate to friends and to the group project. I have never upcycled my clothes before, but after seeing what I can do with my unwanted clothes, I'm excited to learn and do it. All in all, this class was different from my usual classes and it was interesting to see how fashion can be related to other aspects of life.
