The author of the article "Speaking through Cloth: Teaching Hmong History and Culture through Textile Art " mentioned on the Miao cloth, we can see the culture, customs, and religious rituals of the Miao people. And clothing can be used as a means of family cultural identity. Therefore clothes combine art and practicality. The story in the fabric shows some Hmong entertainment activities, processing food, planting, caring for animals, caring for children and houses, cooking and sewing. It conveys the development of the history of the Miao people. However, for the American Hmong immigrants, this art has gradually declined. American Hmong immigrants need economic support. The author mentioned: "The Hmong is still one of the poorest citizens in the United States, and only 2% of them are educated in high school." And because the cultural conflict between the first and second generation Hmong people is also increasing, how to protect the art form of Hmong textiles has become a problem. In fact, I believe that the United States does not lack people and markets to appreciate textile art. What is lacking is the recognition of Hmong craftsmen. In fact, it's easy to find similar products like Hmong Textile Art, but most of them come from factories and machines. There should be no relevant income for the craftsmen of Hmong Textile Art.
How to improve young people's interest in Hmong textile art?
