Week 6_Yueming Tan

Week 6
ASA 141
Yueming Tan

In the article "It's hip to be Asian: The local and global networks of Asian fashion entrepreneurs in London" by Parminder Bhachu, the author mentions that British clothing merchants turned salwar-kameez into a marketing tool. I wonder about the culture of India because it is a populous country and it is next to China. I can understand the British's enthusiasm and enthusiasm for Indian culture because their cultures are so different. On the other hand, clothing in India was considered to be low-level and immigrant. Princess Diana turned salwar-kameez into a symbol of fashion and nobility in British society. I am extraordinarily dissatisfied because the British people have not learned to respect the culture of other countries. However, it is suitable for British clothing business to bring salwar-kameez to the UK. Cultural integration and freshness drive people to understand the countries and cultures they do not know. I chose this photo because I am a fan of Princess Diana. As a Princess, Diana is almost perfect. I can understand why the British people are madly pursuing salwar kameez because this is an idol effect.
