Growing up, I had no sense of style as I had little to no control over what I wore. This, coupled with the rapid movement from house to house and even country to country, prevented me from developing my own style. After my parents divorced and I settled into one town to stay in, I was finally able to pick my own clothing. However I only got to get to new clothes once a year and only enough a weeks worth, if that. On top of that, even if I liked any article of clothing from the previous year, I couldn't wear anything consecutive years because I'd outgrow it. So it was a constant rotation of cheap off-brand clothing from a single annual trip to a generic store like Kohl's.
Fast forward to College. I'm financially independent. I have to buy my own clothing, on top of rent, food, and budget-crippling tools to feed my photo/video passions. With no savings account, I typically end the month with less than $50, sometimes less than a single dollar, to my name. Finding the budget to go to the store rarely occurs and when it does I can only really get one or two things. I'm also notoriously picky with what I want to buy so I rarely find something that I like enough to pull out my debit card.
Despite all these setbacks, my sense of fashion has finally been opened up recently thanks to the Netflix original, Queer Eye. My inspiration and main sense of fashion comes from the show's fashion expert, Tan France. I love just about everything he wears and am obsessed with his sophisticated but comfortable style. The kind of style that can stun in line at Chic-Fil-A and on the red carpet.
His wardrobe typically consists of patterned or floral button ups, both long and short sleeve, BUT ALWAYS FRENCH TUCKED. Paired with American Eagle slim fit jeans, and a bold pair of shoes to complete any outfit. I'm hoping to build up a similar selection in my own closet, as soon as I get around to planning a trip to a suitable outlet...and stop buying new lenses.
Sorry for the late post,
I didn't have access to blogger until today
