Week 4 - Family as Asian Americans

Alyssa Vang - ASA 141 - Week 3 - Family as Asian Americans

After reading Thuy Linh Nyguyen Tu's article All in the Family , it kind of made me happy because it was a more happier chapter of clothes because I have the passion for it. It talked about how Asian Americans were able to come together and help each other within the fashion industry. Although they don't share the same culture and have the same respect that they are suppose to give each other at the end of the day they are always helping each other which makes me happy. In this type of world now-a-days we as Asians have to stick together to help each other get the the place we want to be if not everything is going to stay a competition. One thing that did not surprise me though was the fact that they weren't getting paid enough for what they were doing and I respect the fact that they tried to get it changed. Most things don't go according to plan to have the fairest but in exchange they receive small exchanges that would show that friendship within the company and each other; from the result of that they see commitment to their work within the company. I believe it's important to stay together as a community; like Thuy says they might not be put together as the same class while working but they do consider each other family.
