90's Hip Hop Chic

When you see me on a regular day, almost always I will be in sweats or leggings and a sweatshirt. I realized that I have put in less and less effort in dressing throughout my college career.

However, when I do dress, I am inspired by 90's Hip Hop fashion as the 90's/early 2000's is my favorite era to discover. I get inspiration from R&B artists such as Aaliyah and TLC and also shows like A Different World and Living Single. I always enjoy sporting mom jeans/boyfriend jeans and my black Timberlands. 9/10 if I am looking cute that day, I will put on a pair of big ole' gold hoops and my nameplate necklace to top it all off. Modern day inspiration includes Karrueche Tran.

In regards to the reading, I believe that it is interesting to see how the roles of orientalism and gender play into the role of the globalization of Asian dress. Yet, was the emergence of fashion in Asia and its feminization a response to Asia as an emerging economic and military superpower against the United States which is seen as more masculine?
