Style Point of View
Jacqueline Yee
My
style is sensible and practical but it can be dictated by how I am feeling
that day. I tend to gravitate towards clothing that has pockets and allows to me to be
on the move comfortably throughout the day. I used to wear leggings or sweats to class a
lot since it was comfy and easy. But after studying abroad in the Netherlands,
I stopped. Dutch students would always dress up and look presentable for class no matter how early it
was. Denim jeans and skirts, or plaid bottoms were very trendy and it seemed
like there was an unspoken rule that leggings or pajama pants were not allowed.
So since coming back, the habit kind of carried over. I tend to wear jeans or patterned pants with booties.
My closet is mostly neutral in color, mostly blacks, grays, and
whites. But occasionally some maroons or sage green tops might be thrown into
the mix. This is because I try not to stick out, I'd rather blend in with the
rest of the crowd. I am also a huge fan of Birkenstocks. I own three pairs,
since they are comfortable, have arch support for my feet and are easy to slip
on before leaving the house. A lot of my style choices have to do with convenience and practicality. However, I do enjoy dressing up and like to take the time to get ready. I have never been a fan of dresses, but I like to wear patterned pants or pantsuits.
Lately I've enjoyed looking at Cassie Masangkay and Ricci Pamintuan's style choices from @wearetothe9s on Instagram. Their choices are often neutral in color, but sometimes too edgy for me. Nevertheless, I like to see how they put their pieces together and try to get inspiration
