Week 1: Style Point of View
My exposure to experimenting with fashion started when I was a performer, from wearing extravagant costumes during musicals to doing my own stage makeup. I then moved on to work at multiple makeup counters, including Sephora and Nordstrom, which only peaked my interest in fashion further. However in college, I moved away from music/performing and pursued engineering, which really limited the time I was able to spend involved in the arts. Now I mainly get to express myself through my music and fashion.
I would describe my personal style as all over the place! However, the overall trend of most of what I wear is glamour/elegance. I am a big fan of a few chunky eye-catching accessories (a little goes a long way) such as a flashy watch or large earrings. I also tend to stick to body con dresses with a wrapped teddy coat or south asian inspired wrap. I like to piece together elements of my Indian heritage a lot with Western fashion, such as wearing chunky south asian earrings or henna-inspired prints.
I really love exercising, so the glamorous style I like to lead sometimes entangles with pieces of athletic clothing, to create a sort of refined type of street clothing. The prints I like to work with in the summer lead to boho-inspired flowy clothing as well, which further confuses my usual tight and fitted clothing choices.
