Week 1
Style Point of View
Comfy, Casual, and/or Cropped
Sidney Siu
For the most part, my everyday style is basic and comfy. Being at school, I usually feel the need to prioritize my sleep over getting ready to be cute. However, I think that the weather heavily impacts the way I dress. Throughout winter, I constantly complain that I want the weather to be sunny so that I don't have to worry about being cold or getting wet. Day by day, I'll wear sweats, long sleeves and other layers, and tennis shoes. In short, I hate getting ready in the winter because I can't wear all my cute crop tops. My friends used to tease me for always wearing crop tops with high-waisted pants-- it's just my style! To be honest, I've even worn a long sleeve crop top to the snow before (with a snow jacket, of course). As the weather gets warmer, my outfits will slowly progress from crop tops with sweats to crop tops with jeans or shorts.
When I'm not wearing casual clothes, I love dressing up for events. Since I was little, I've always loved wearing heels and finding cute dresses to wear to events. Now that I'm older, I find it easier to express the mature style that my younger self possessed. At the moment, I've found myself buying more body con middies. I like that the way these dress form to my body, while also keeping it on the classier side.
My favorite fashion icons are Blake Lively and Michelle Yeoh at the moment. I pretty much love every gown that they stunt at big events. They are both classy, elegant, and daring. I also admire Blake Lively's everyday style, where she tends to switch it up a lot. She can pull of any style and make it her own and isn't afraid to be bold. Additionally, I love the fact that she's been wearing a lot of pant suits lately.
